1975 Highboy Skyjacker 2" Lift

Hey guys, contemplating picking up a 2" Skyjacker lift for my 75 F250 and thought I would see if anyone had any pictures they would be kind enough to share? I think the stock springs have definitely sagged over the years but it hard to tell comparatively speaking. I know 4" would be too big for my tastes and a lot of pictures taken of FTE. and other sites don't always specify what size lift. I'd love to compare before I buy. I think they are around 1200.00 for the full front and rear leaf replacements that get rid of the rear factory blocks.

Also, don't think any steering complications with the 2" lift but if anyone has had issues id love to know about them! Mine has the original closed knuckle D44HD.

Cheers!!

I'd recommend using a pitman arm from a 76-77 highboy to correct the steering geometry of the draglink/control valve.

(The 76-77 pitman arms are 2" longer than the earlier highboy pitman arms)

Great info thx. Montana .... just need to find one!! I can do some research at some of the local pick & pull possibly. Interesting that 75 -> 76 changed the pitman arm set up. Who knew.

I know skyjacker doesn't list any steering mods for any of the 6th. gen F250's so that's good to know.

I have a set of 325/60R18's I think would look great and would likely fit as it sits now but would be tight. The last 38 years have been hard on these leaf springs I think. 2" kit would be perfect to re-fresh and add a touch of height.

Kit here in Canada at the local 4x4 shop costs $1870.00 and $1,000.00 install. Crazy!! I can order out of the US and save a bundle .... then do it myself and save on the install.

Anyways, may be a winter project but thanks for the info!! Any pics of a 2" lift??

In '76 most everything changed on the highboy front-end...

Open knuckles, disc brakes, ball joints, different pitman arm and steering arm.

I believe forum member 'co425' has a Skyjacker 2" lift kit on his highboy, i'm sure he can get you some before/after pics.

Hey, thanks a ton for your time and help. Is that part number for the 2" dropped pitman arm or a "sector shaft" .... or is it kinda called the same thing on the OEM parts list?

I have e-mailed JACKIT as they have quite a few pitman arms listed for the pre 75 broncos but not the F250's. These pit. arms are unfortunately for the 4" kit as well, not 2". Thought I would see if they had options.

I'll give that fellow a shout in TX as well.

I think JACKIT has a Skyjacker 2" premium kit listed for $1,545.00 out of UT.

Great info!!

Maybe I should have kept one of my two 76 highboys for parts!! Cash gets tight and I buckle ..... I always regret it.

It's the same part, sector shaft arm is just "catalog speak" for pitman arm.

Awesome ... and thanks again. I also posted on the co425's thread to see if I can get some pics of the before and after.

I'll give that fellow a shout tomorrow on the pitman and think I'm also gonna order the kit from JACKIT in UT and have it shipped to MT. Way easier and cheaper for me. Looking at the "sag" in the back it definitely needs help. There are a couple broken leafs.

BTW ... that truck in your Avatar or whatever you call it looks pretty nice. Love the west coast mirrors.

Cheers.

Thanks! those Westcoast mirrors can get pretty pricey on ebay, here's a current example... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Quality-1960s-1970s-FORD-PICKUP-Original-Optional-equipment-TOWING-MIRRORS/321211213017?_trksid=p2045573.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D27%26meid%3D1411447378292764847%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D1011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D321211213017%26 ...mine are the Westcoast Jr's I picked them up at the junkyard for only 20 bucks!

Keep in mind that Jack-It charges $180 to ship to MT. that's on top of the $1,545 kit price, though you do get a ton of extras, i.e. Pro Comp Shocks, Daystar Shackle Bushings, Front/Rear Spring Eye Bolt Kit, Steering Stabilizer, and Stainless Steel Brake Lines.

The cheapest I've found the 2" Skyjacker kit is $1,180 w/free shipping from these guys... Ford, Skyjacker Suspension Lift Systems for 1967-77 F-250 Highboy 4WD ...but it includes none of the extras the Jack-it kit offers, so you'll need to decide if they're worth the extra $550 to you.

I'll be buying the same Skyjacker kit as you, for the same reason, to replace my tired highboy springs....I figured if i'm going through the time, trouble and expense I might as well get an extra 2" of lift instead of replacing with oem spec'd springs.

Nice highboy btw! looks super straight and clean!!
It's hard to gauge from a pic but if I had to guess i'd say you've lost 1-2" of factory ride height, so a 2" kit should yield 3-4" of lift.

On a factory fresh highboy this measurement is approx. 27" so with a quick measurement you can see how much your springs have sagged...

Well these are about the best before and after shots I can find.

Before:

After the front looks a more front high then it actually is that front tires in a depression. And shes leaned over a bit torward the camera. In reality shes dead level and will be nose down slightly when the cummins goes in.

All in all I am happy with the lift. See my thread for a more detailed install.

First off, thanks to co425 for throwing up some pics. Looks like it made a fairly substantial difference. Cummins? Now that would be nice .... a tad better gas mileage I would assume. LOL Nice Highboy!! (I love flat black) I'd have ta say those look like 35" BFG's with a ton of room.

Also, thanks MT Highboy for those specs on the factory height measurements. Holy crap, I measured my front hub ctr. to fender and it is at 23.5" and the rear is at 23" ..... that's quite a loss in spring height over the 38 years. 4" spring sag!!

I will definitely do the before/after with this truck ... with the same tires, take some pics and throw up the comparative measurements for those to see. I will have to call that shop back today here in Alberta to see if that price included shocks, etc. etc. You are dead on with the shipping, plus the border ***** charge GST (which isn't a ton but still ...)

...... once I figure out how to put up pictures:

Here are a few pics of a '76 I sold (damn it), but anyways it has 2" blocks front and rear (I know), and a 3" body lift. Of course I never took pictures of the before and after, nor did I measure heights. Mind you they were factory springs with "sag". I was younger and just wanted to clear 35" boggers ... lol.

Cheers!

It keeps asking me for a URL?? Anyways I give up on putting up pics here (maybe I haven't posted enough) so I was able to put them up in an Album on my profile. Sorry. I will ask the webmaster for some assistance.

You could always just replace your springs with new ones for less money to get you back to factory height if that's all you want.

Yeah we do have a spring shop close by, but with my experience, they are never quite 100% exactly what you envision. I suppose if 1975 OEM springs were available that may definitely be a consideration. Likely the same price or more than the skyjacker 2".

You have any idea how much, and where you could price these out? Unfortunate thing too is I am in Canada, and shipping ends up costing a pile as well. Good option though! THX

I don't know about shipping costs on these, but I have heard guys talk about this company quite a bit.
