OT: Addition to the fleet!

No i havent picked up another truck just yet...
But the fusion is still giving us crap, and i honestly hurt after driving it. To dang small for the long drives.
So... as soon as i hunt down a good pcm for it and get it flashed...its going up for sale.

We have already purchased its replacement.

It is an 03 crown vic with the 4.6.
It just hit 100k.

We have had it for a couple weeks but the wheels were being powder coated.
The temporary wheels were off a dodge... and i couldnt have her introduction picture looking like that...

So...
To you fellas who wrench on these things...
1st to 2nd is pretty hard... fluid looks and smells good...
P.o.says something about a shift kit...

Engine go fasty mods?

Hey now you can experience the front seat!

Local here has one all whited out with a set of gauges, looks like something an Imperial Storm Trooper would drive. Nice addition to the fleet!

-Seems I've heard and experienced a bad spring and piston in the 1-2 accumulator on this trans-Ford has an upgraded spring and piston available......

As far as the go fast stuff, its an ex-cop car, its plenty fast already!

Just go through it, tune it up, change all fluids and filters, MAY BE a cold air intake.....

I think the one in the oil commercial might be a Marauder....I've recorded it several times and stop it at the side view but really can't tell.

Craigslist is FULL here locally of literally 100s of old P71 cop cars......

Check the intake manifold. Those years had a plastic manifold that can crack and spray coolant everywhere. The replacement has an aluminum cross over instead of a plastic.

Trans fluid should be flushed every 30-50k to keep the torque converter lock up from slipping and shuddering.

Timing chain guides can wear out and make it sound like a sewing machine on startup. Using a motocraft oil filter with the back flow prevention valve will help them last longer. Some aftermarket filters can let the oil drain back and the hydraulic adjusters go slack causing extra wear on the plastic guides.

Front struts are a bear to replace. It's a real wrestling match trying to get the control arms out of the way to replace them if needed. Rear shocks are a piece of cake.

I have the same comfort complaint when I drive the wife's Focus. 40 mpg is great, but after 12 hours of driving my back is killing me.

My 2004 Town car on the other hand. I feel like I could drive 12 more hours after a trip.

Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Marauder, and Towncar

Is the equivalent to this site for that car. Not quite as friendly sometimes, but a wealth of knowledge.
