Don't try to replace it on the truck, yank the shifter and pull the carpet back, there is a big plate covering the top of the trans. Pull that off and the top of the trans will be revealed and you can take the top assy. off the trans and then get the plug replaced. Back in the day they used rubber plugs but you had to glue them in there with Permatex so they would not leak.
