Hey guys, I'm not normally in this forum, but one of my delivery trucks is puking fluid out of the pressure switch. The problem is, I can't seem to find one ANYWHERE!!!!! Dealers say obsolete, and the ford parts site concurs. Haven't found one in the aftermarket, either. We'd rather get a new one if possible, but if we have to go to the salvage yard, so be it. If anyone knows where I can get a new p/s pressure switch for an 04 Ranger 2.3, please let me know ASAP. Thanks.
If you can't get a switch, you can just plug the opening. It is a signal to the computer that the power steering pump is about to add some load, so bump the IAC to prevent stalling and shaky idle. Most times it is not needed, just a convenience.
I do not believe it will set a code, or rather turn on the CEL, in normal circumstances. It will set a code if you run the KOER test with EEC-IV, as you are told to wiggle the steering wheel within a time frame after getting a specific beep or light signal, along with stepping on the brake pedal and going WOT and back to idle {quickly!!}.
My guess is that the switch was used in a lot of different models. The same switch might have even been used in the rack and pinion systems, or full-size trucks & cars using a steering box vs rack & pinion.

NAPA shows two P/S pressure switches for Rangers up through 03 that look the same, one for $24 the other for $29, looks like a call to the salvage yard might be worth the time.
