I'm running SRL+ and atlas 40 as well and see 15 city and 17.5-18 hwy. I do have the 3-5 flare every once in awhile but I only seem to get it when in a moderate acceleration from stopped and I let off a bit before it shifts. Seems like sometimes it will do it and other times not too. Love the tune with atlas 40 otherwise

I run the SRL+ and the economy (that was recommended by both gearhead and Ed) but do not see those numbers. At best on the high way I get 16 mpg and can see as low as 9 in the city. City driving is short runs usually up and down hills.so I cant say these are typical situations. Would love to see better mpgs but have may modifications and do not think they will ever get any better.

I've run SRL Extreme and the Atlas 80 and saw little to no smoke. It actually runs quite well.
SRL+ and the Atlas 80 netted me 17 mpg on the last tank. The only reason I switched back from SRL Extreme is because I needed to tow something light and didn't want to do it on Extreme. (no more than 5K on SRL+)
Something you need to consider is how and when you load the tune, because thereafter, the truck starts learning.
I.e. If you load the tune on a cold engine, the truck learns how to drive cold first instead of the other way around. This leads to poor performance, poor turbo response, as well as, poor throttle response. Ask me how I know...
Load the tune with the truck up to temp (190 degrees) and then reset the KAM using your SCT or tuning device (most of them can easily do it). This clears completely clears whatever memory the truck has so it builds a new baseline and nothing off of what it had before.

I love the way it shifts with Extreme loaded!

I'd have to say I noticed a pretty big difference on accelerating and throttle response when I loaded the atlas 40 with the SRL+ compared to just running the SRL+ with the stock ficm tune. I even noticed the turbo farting I was getting from the 8k tow tune went away almost completely after loading the atlas 40. Def smokes heavy on hard takeoffs but like you guys said, it clears up pretty quick.
I'm curious now, does the SRL Extreme seem to be a good daily driver or unloaded highway tune?

The shifts are nice and solid, but should you need it, there is plenty of power to get around someone or as our previous Governor put it: "Get on down the road".
Its not recommended for towing though, with SRL+ you can get away with 5K max anything above that an it's risky. SRLX is a good, no towing, daily driving tune.
