Boeing Striking is a good one... Do you know of any members heading towards Burlington WA? there is a new member over on the bronco side and I think her rear axle has sploded on her 79 Bronco... She doesn't know much about cars I don't think but would really like to get it on the road and is asking for help. It's 1.5 hours from me which wouldn't be bad if I knew the beetle would make it or I knew the bronco wasn't leaking and had a full tank. She mentioned something about food, beer, and fishing..
Linky for anyone who might like to help.

well boys, i thought i would check in here...
i was out last night looking at a friend's jeep cherokee - one which had been sitting in his driveway for the last 6 months because it wasn't safe to drive. we started screwing with it, and stumbled upon the problem.
the symptoms were simple - starts cold and idles fine, drives fine, but idle speed creeps up to where the brakes can't hold the vehicle still when in drive. stays up as long as the engine is warm. cruising at 55 doesn't require you to touch the gas pedal. he'd already tried all the usual stuff - IAC and TPS which everybody told him had to be the problem.
looking for a possible vacuum leak, i probed around with an unlit propane torch, just about everywhere, with no change. then i reached for the can of carb cleaner (which i like to call a can of whoop-azz). IAC was manually closed and unplugged, idle speed was 1500 - until i sprayed injector #5, idle speed dropped significantly. #6 did the same thing. spraying them both stalled the engine. there it was - massive vacuum leak at the injector o-rings. the evil problem that had all the jeep guys stumped. well $25 later we had new o-rings, which of course i greased while installing, and the engine acted like it should. victory.
and while boeing striking is good, beamer smashing is even better
on another random note, one of my little LED flashlights offended me tonight because it would only work on its low setting, so i tore it apart, found the broken solder joint at the switch, soldered it up, and it worked perfect. i don't know how many of these i've thrown away for this problem. it was one of these little guys

Checking in with ya'll
I've been busy with work. I'm working 5 days a week at NAPA, and am filling my evenings up working at my bosses house building a retaining wall for his pool. In the limited amount of free time that I have, I've been making steady progress on my bug, started parting out my 79 (sold the engine/trans Monday) and sold my diesel yesterday. Now I'll be picking up something awesome tonight... I'll post pictures later
It's weird to say, but I'm kinda looking forward to the school year, because I can finally slow down and get some spare time where I can relax, unwind, and hangout.

Perseid meteor shower 2013: Catch the falling stars.
I got a short video I'll post if it turns out ok.

If I had the fuel I would drive over to Vantage WA and park somewhere near
the I-90 Ryegrass summit rest station
Here is the traffic-cam
