55 F100 AFTERMARKET RADIATOR SUGGESTIONS

hi was wondering if anybody knows of a good aftermarket radiator without spending crazy money..i do not care if it s aluminum or whatever..something thats kind of close to size as the original some modifiation is expected and i do not have a problem with it......the motor is a 223 6 cyl engine...original rad was stolen when i bought the truck so i cant repair that one...it calls for top hose in the center and bottom hose on passenger side...please let me know if you have bought one and maybe have the item or model number..probably going to buy it off ebay seems to be about the best prices...i seen a few for $450-$500 but thats a little steep actually more than i paid for the truck lol...

i just bought a used one but leaks like a siv and all the cores were rotted...this time i am going to buy a new one tired of all the bs..

thanks for your time and hope someone could help me out I sure would appreciate it...

I don't think you'll find a "good" new one that's also cheap. Did I see another thread from you asking this same question (if not, I apologize). The way it's worded sounds really familiar...

Get a free catalog for Mid Fifties. You'll be spending lots of money with them.

This one is $485 in black with your hose configuration.

I was going to suggest LMC where I bought my replacement - until I noticed that the '53-56 I6 version is almost 2X the cost of the '48-52 version. Didn't realize what a bargain I had until just now.

So a question for the greater FTE, would the '48-52 version work? The radiator configuration is single upper line in with the passenger side return. I'm guessing the shroud would need some tweaks. Are the mounts different?

Do you need a new radiator or a working one? I had a guy give me a 63 f100 that was not running but the radiator looked similar. Maybe you can find one in a wrecking yard.

Where are you located? I have a 6 cyl radiator out of a '53. It wasn't leaking at the time it came out but it needs to be cleaned (cored). If you are close enough you can have it cheap.

I got mine off ebay from Superior Radiator in Michigan, which makes them by hand. They're listed on ebay for $350 or best offer. I think I got my for $250. The mounting holes were a little off, but really nice other than that.

I'm running a champion aluminum radiator that I purchased from Champion around 220 bucks. It keeps the 351w nice and cool using the stock mechanical fan. The temp stays at around 160 and will warm up to 180 when sitting in traffic.

the only thing I don't like is the trans cooler fittings, not very good at least mine were not. So I purchased a trans cooler.

I second Superior and got mine off ebay quite a while ago. I would say they are the way to go.

Mine came from oreilys and was for a mid 70's ford truck and was a bolt in. They have books that will show pictures and give dimensions and you can pick one. Mine is lifetime warranty and was $150 or so. It's for a 302 in a 55 ford but they have about every configeration you can imagine in the books.

Larry this is the way I was leaning for sourcing a radiator for my 56 project. If you recall can you tell me did you get one for a 302 with automatic and ac? Also be on the lookout for a private message pertaining to dent repair.
