How do you Identify the model of a holley carb. I am in need of replacing the one on my 72 f100. So far I have found 4 separate numbers on various locations on the carb. The best one(I guess) is "List-1850-3" with the numbers "1669" under that. It is for a 4bbl carb to a 360 V8?
The 1850 is a "universal" 600 CFM model 4160 vacuum secondary carb with side hung float bowls and a single fuel inlet. It will fit anything you can mount it on and tune it to. The biggest thing to be careful about is that it does not have a ford A/T kickdown lever.
It links down to ford automatic transmissions, like the C6. It helps tells the transmission that you're trying to shift down to a lower gear when you pu your foot in the gas. Many folks run without it. You might just have to shift it down yourself.
in these two photos the lower one has a ford kick down. note the extra lever sticking up behind the main linkage with the stud which has an "e" clip grove in it. that is to commect to a metal rod which runs down to your transmission.
You will not have a kick down to "passing" gear on WOT unless it is properly connected and adjusted as per the reapir manual.
these carbs differ in other ways as well, but the linkage looks the same on all carbs with a ford kick down.
{edit} Holley won't allow linking aparently, cur and paste the urls into a new window.
