That pinch weld lip makes a perfect mating surface for the flat firewall panel that I use...the new metal tucks up nicely under the lip. A touch of filler and the underside is smooth and flat.

Nice job Charlie. Looks like you also trimmed some of that lip down.
Has anyone removed/smoothed out that pinch weld? Pro's & cons.. .

No trimming. Question: how would you expect to attach the upper section of the firewall to the cab if there were no lip there? I believe that there is such a thing as too much "smoothing". As for your question, has anyone ever done it...if they have I personally have never seen it.

Do we have any experienced welders out here?

Currently working on IFS spindles off '84 C4 Vette. Finding out the caliper mounting tabs are prone to snapping off when converting to larger calipers. My question is can some strength be welded to these aluminum tabs without issue?

Adapter bracket:

New caliper (z06):

Many Thx!

Should ask that question on a Corvette forum, you may get a better answer.

Probably because no one on the Corvette forum that still has an early C4 would want to invest in larger brakes...that is not the most popular Vette model. C5/C6 spindles are fairly easy to come by and require no such mods.

Have only sand boxed with C4 series. Time think about plan B or is it C.. .
Basic question will be do spindles interchange.
