Express bed for F4-F5?

Guy stopped by today looking for an original pickup style bed for his '50 F5.....was there ever such a thing offered on these trucks? He claims it was a rare option that looked like the express bed only was 10 feet long?
I recall seeing pics of these type beds on 20's and 30's vintage trucks, and the later '50's but don't recall ever seeing one on a bonus built.........

Is he crazy or am I missing something(likely)?????

The guy is crazy. Like you say, it was either on the earlier or later models, but not on 48-52.

I have seen pictures of hot rodded F-4, 5, or 6 cab overs with a bed from an F-2 or F-3 on the back. Looked kind of strange.

Here is a link to some pictures of the 9' bed....

Not sure if it would be close to what that guy was thinking of.....maybe with the right custom wheels it could look pretty decent on an F5.

Tom, thanks for that link.......those are the later beds I was thinking of. Even if he did find one of those, I doubt the wheelbase would be correct or 20" tires would fit under the fenders. I suggested he find a nice script flatbed....

Also good to know I haven't lost my mind completely.......

The flatbed on Albatross (F500) is 13' long. Anything much shorter would look funky'd up, methinks.

Here are some illustrations from the 1952 salesman instruction manual (This is my first attempt at posting a picture; did it work?):

FWIW, the F350 from '53-55 (and later?) had the 9ft bed, but would take a bit of work, to get it to sit right on an F4/5. (wheelbases are different and the centering of wheelwell is different as well)

Isn't denial a river in Egypt?

Did I really say that?

Technically you typed it, but just the same, once on the internet always on the internet.

So, in other words (letters?):
What happens on the Internet stays on the Internet.

Gotta love that wayback machine!
When I worked in anti-counterfeiting, we had an un-named customer who temporarily posted sensitive information on their site. They deleted it within a couple of hours but google cache had record of it until they were "strongly encouraged" to remove it. Oops!
