Here in Townsend there is an old fart named Hank Lohr. He owns Hanks salvage. He must like bump sides, because he has a ton of bumps compared to all his other "junkers". Most of them are complete.
Thanks. I did know they put FEs in dents, just I've always never had pre '77. My biggest concern is the wiring with bumps. Seems there are alot of wiring threads on here, is this an issue, or are they just a "few" years older and I've been lucky with my dents?
I think either series is a candidate for a new harness. Let's face it we are talking about trucks that are almost 50 yrs old. Something to watch when it comes to wiring threads on bumps is the subject. Many swap in intermittent wipers, headlight swaps to late model style, gas tank swaps that put the tank at the rear of the truck, etc. Just saying when it comes to wiring many are directly related to modifications.
Did I say discs were OEM on 71/72s half-tons or limiting the recommendation to half-tons? Nooooooo .... Believe it or not there are some people that will retrofit disc brakes. Apparently not since that wouldn't appear in a Master Parts Catalog.
I stand by my original statement without the textual intervention of the Grumpy Parts Guy:
Find a bump with PS, PB, AND discs and you'll be that much more ahead.
Bill is just statein facts for them that may come across this thread
down the road. I think we all knew what ya meant. And appreciate Bill
and all he puts into this forum.
Bill is an Historian and states facts. If ya see him that way then ya won't think he is messin with ya, I hope

And please don't holler.
Not hollerin'.. just making sure it can be read.
Sure he stated a fact about 71-72s halt-tons but made some gross and incorrect assumptions about what I posted It's simply rude to imply that my recommendation was somehow incorrect by posting the emoticon "". It's not a "huh?" situation.
The elderly are new to computers, the 'net, and he likely has no clue about how his replies are read and doesn't understand the "proper" way to use emoticons.
Beef over... I'd rather go to a parts place where Mike is behind the counter.
PS,PB, and discs (however and whomever installed them) are desirable features to start with IMO.
Ya missed the point as to why Bill will post like this. Not sure I can explain it further than I did. It's to get the Ford information into the post so that future readers of it have that information available also.
At least that is the way I read it.
Until you got bent out of shape and posted I never saw the post the way you do or did.
op, you don't have your profile filled out so i don't know where you live, but here in california you gotta smog anything newer than 75, so that pretty much made up my mind for me when i went looking. you might look into the smog laws of your state and make sure you're not stuck trying to get a 40 year old truck to pass.
