runs little rough down road at cold start( shakes high rpm hard tranny shift) no smoke,no cel, engine warms up runs great usually around 3 miles. All factory, Everything well maintained 138000 m.Any suggestions ?
Assuming all filters and caps are oem the first things to check in my op. would be glow plug operation and ficm voltage. What state are your batterys and alt. in? Do the simple things first and quite often you will hit the jackpot.
ficm voltage checked fine .Dont have any type scanner never have had the need for one, until now.All batterys alternator check ok.Leaning toward stiction. As much as i hate too ,suppose Ill be taking a trip to the dealer for a dio
Did you check your FICM voltage while it was cold and running bad or after it warmed up? Personally, I'd use the money on something like a ScanGuageII rather than taking it to the dealer.
If you think it's stiction, try some archoil 9100 fuel additive to see if that fixes it.
Cheapest scanner is Torque for android or dashboss for iphone. Buy a good bluetooth obdii from eBay. Tidal cost is $20. I think it's easier than scan guage, and comparable.
2nd Torque App on Android phone with BT adapter....lots of PIDs and under $20 bucks. When is the last time you pulled the EGR valve and looked at it...could be coaked up.
Update! stealership pulled codes relating to and saying i got a bad ficm and #7 & 8 gp's bad.Guess my multimeter is bad too, picked up truck after hearing there estimate at $1400. parts and labor.Looking for a good ficm and couple glo plugs now.Oh and possible bad fuel sending unit which they said could be related to bad ficm?Any advice ,and thanks to all that has helped.

Send your FICM to Ed at FICMrepair.com, I think he also will do exchanges if it's urgent. I'd check glow plug prices and likely buy from Tousley Ford (now Autonation of White something or other). No clue what they are talking about on FICM and fuel sending unit, more likely injector issues. And get yourself a bluespring kit and install it, from Riffraff diesel -- you likely don't need the full kit with cover so get this: Riffraff Diesel: Ford Fuel Pressure Regulator Blue Spring Kit
Oh yeah, and get set up with some type of monitoring system, it's critical and will save you bux. If you have a smartphone it's Torque Pro for Droids or DashBoss for Apples (or maybe it's a good time to get a smartphone), or next would be scangauge II -- lots of expertise here on all three...
