and I thought I gained wieght!?!

Howdy folks,

My 2000 Ford Expedition XLT with the 4.3ltr 4x4 almost loaded weighed somewhere around 5,400 lbs or so.

I just got a 2008 Ford Expedition XLT, 5.3 ltr 2 wheel drive - not fully loaded and the thing weighs around 7.400 lbs.

I know there have been some changes from 2000 - to 2008, but gaining 2,000 lbs pounds?!?

Anyone know what drives that kind of additional weight (for curiosity sake).

Thanks

7400lbs ???? That doesn't sound right. According to Ford base curb weight for a 4x2 should be 5549lbs ( 5844 for EL )

Did you actually weigh it or are you going by the sticker on the door jam ?

They do weigh more than the older ones because of all the safety stuff but not 2000lbs.

I didn't think so either - but I did get an "oasis report" from the Ford Dealership while being serviced. This report gives me the run down on the Expy - build date, warranty info, construction codes, what's on it from the factory, etc.

It also states that the Gross Vehicle Weight is 7,400 LB.

That's the total weight the vehicle can be with all passengers and cargo. Not the curb weight.

Better to have asked and know than be concerned about it forever!
