Need an assist on re-doing my double cardan
Hey guys, I found that my double cardan joint is starting to make some clicking noises at all times and figure its due for a rebuild. Ive never done any work on these things but I did find this write up https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-vid-pics.html
Super detailed, Is it essentially the same? Bronco is a 1984 w/ ford 9" and a NP208 TC.... my local parts guy was trying to tell me there is no centering ball in the joint, its just two u joints, this has got me confused lol...
thanks

I just redid mine and used the same write-up. If it's got a centering ball you will be able to see it if you move the end of the DS back and forth.
I just looked up my parts on Advance Auto, wrote down the part numbers and took them to the store. Told them I needed these parts and heres the part numbers.

I am fairly sure every Double Cardan joint has a Centering ball joint.
It's a PITA to do. If you're doing all the ujoints and everything, the best things are to be patient because it will take some time. If you have a press things will go faster but if not, I used a big hammer and a sparkplug socket. Just don't loose your needle bearings
