I've got a 2001 f150 supercrew 4x4 with the 4.6. I plugged in trailer lights and now I have no brake, turn signal, or hazzard lights. I've checked fuses and none are blown. Anybody have any ideas or answers would be greatly appreciated.
check your operators manual and see which fuses are for the lights on the truck.. brake and turn signals are the same element in the bulb. I know you checked fuses, but look again. I use to have that problem when i left truck running, head lights on, and plugged in the trailer. Blew the fuse... I learned long ago to shut off the lights and motor prior to plugging in the plug. Mine was a 6 prong type. THis happened to me twice.
Is the trailer wiring adapter on the truck factory original or some after-the-factory hack job? Trailer lighting on a factory setup isolates the trailer circuits with relays and separate fuses from the vehicle circuits so that faults in the trailer wiring don't take out the truck's signals
Do your front turn signals/hazards on the truck still work?
The 7 prong plug looks factory, will double check. I'm using a 7 to 4 adapter in factory plug.
The third brake light works.
None of blinkers in front or rear work, hazzards don't work and brake lights don't work.
I don't have the owners manual, but have looked online at one and not real sure what relays or fuses should be affected. I replaced relay 201 with no change.
Are there others I should check?
Is there one flasher or two for blinkers and hazzards & where are they?
I see the relays in the owners manual, are they the ones that control everything?
Thanks projectSHO89, it seems to be a loose connection at the MFS. I can tilt the steering wheel up and everything starts working and down they quit. Now to fix it. Is this a common problem?
Anyway thanks for all the help.
