Water temp and Engine Temp

I was towing our Trailer the other day and I noticed when the fan kicked in to high that the engine temp was a little cooler than when the fan was not working so hard. The fan was kicking into high when the water temp was 215. Most times the water temp was 207 to 210.

The EOT was around 220 - 228

As as been noted many times, the computer takes in many factors to kick the fan up high.... who knows? Just be glad it works!

I assume the AC was running at the time??

Sounds like you might be close to an oil cooler limit (15 degree separation between the EOT and ECT).

The AC was running at the time. According to the scanguage there is only 5 or 6 degree difference when running unloaded. And I am glad the fan works, I just thought it was interesting that the engine was cooler with the fan running and the higher temps.
