Thank you so much, Bill.
You are absolutely correct as to the sequencing of the Merc numbers. Had 'em scribbled in random order on my sheet.
Interesting that the Mercury warranty plate denotes 'left hand drive' Ever encounter a slick with right hand drive? Aussie market perhaps?
Neither truck bears resemblance to what is stated on the warranty plates. Different engines, trannies, trim. I'm not shocked. The F250 says Camper Special on one fender and F250 on the other and the warranty plate looked to be epoxied in place. God only knows what is really is.

THAT actually brings up a very interesting question. Did they ever make a right hand drive 61 - 66, AND if so, does anyone have any pictures of it???

I'm pretty sure there were '60s right hand drive F100s built in Australia for their home market. I visited there in the late '90s and saw several RHD Ford trucks that looked exactly like their American cousins, except for the RHD part. There was an Australian TV show called Skippy the Kangaroo (or something like that) in which a young boy and his pet kangaroo thwarted some bad guys for 30 minutes every week. Kinda like Timmy and Lassie, but with a Down Under twist. The "good guy" ranger in the show drove a RHD F100. Not sure if the show ever played up here in the U S. Perhaps one of our Aussie members will see this post and chime in. Early '60s Australian Falcons looked very much like their American cousins too before they became more distinctively Australian.

Help decoding the Warranty Tag Numbe please!

Hi There,

I recently bought a 1965 Ford F-100

The Warranty Tag Number is F10DD678579
Any information would be great.

It has a 352 with the 4 speed on the floor - is there a way to check and see if the engine and transmission are original?

Finally, I'd like to keep her original as possible (depending on whether or not the engine and transmission are original), except I was thinking of painting her a differint color. To those who like the originals, is this heresy?

My thought is that you could always return the paint to the original color, but I would be interested to hear some thoughts....

Thanks,
C.Monkey

That sure is a nice looking truck. Not really sure about those wheels, but its also not my call. 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'... I guess that goes for trucks also...

Awesome. Thanks ND for all of the great info.

Unfortunately, the rims came with the truck...
I would prefer the original rims, but I think that is just a dream. I understand that they are hard to come by.

"Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, said the old lady as she kissed the cow."

"Bling" wheels favored by low riders, nouveau riche Cadillac Escalade owners, Hollywood Boulevard cruisers.

Wheels like this sell for...at least...$1000.00 each.

Bill,,, I will NEVER admit to kissing a cow. If I did, it was most likely because I had WAY too many
