B600 leaf spring question with pics

Hello,

Attached is a photo of the leaf springs on my 1955 B600. The springs are virtually flat with no arch to them at all - as you see in the picture.

Is this how they should look or should they have some arch to them? I have restored many of other smaller vehicles and am used to much more arch.

The pictures in the Ford Illustrations Catalog do show them pretty flat, but that is just drawings...

They most likely have/had a arch without the body on it.

We have a '03 F650 at work that has almost flat springs.. when we put 5+ ton on the back they don't move much either.

My 1968 f-600 truck is the same way as you have pictured with the springs more flattened out, when I put a load on the truck it sets down on the helpers. My ford 2010 f750 servicce truck is the same way and I have a crane, welder, and loaded with tools all the time and I added extra springs to bring it back up to a positive arch spring.

Thanks guys! I guess I am not as bad off as I thought. I am thinking the shocks on it are original. Would new ones be of any benefit?
