Welcome to FTE! I'll see if I can help you out with your decode. F10 = 2 wheel drive F100 truck. J = 223 cubic inch I-6, 1 bbl engine. G = built at Chicago plant. 460089 = built in September, 1963 as a '64 model. 114 = wheelbase in inches. Blank color, and six digit DSO, indicative of a special order vehicle. F100 = 5000 pound GVW rated half ton truck. 81A = standard cab. Trans A = 3 speed manual light duty. Axle A2 = Dana limited slip differential with 3.92 gears. 5000# = GVW rating. 114@3600 = NET horsepower and the rpms where achieved. 630223 = a Domestic Special Order vehicle ordered through the Memphis district sales office. Hope you enjoy your new truck.
[/IMG][/IMG]Thank you much. This was a Mississippi Power and Lights truck, original color a primerish grey. The lock boxes fit so perfect think they were ordered with the truck. They were painted ether White or Grey, there are tell tell grey around under the greenish color. Man worked at MP&L bought truck in 67, truck parked in barn early 80s, afterwards he passed away, then I found her. Starting front suspension/brake upgrade. See how engine does, did start it up, and drive home after points, and hot battery. Have 1964 big block on stand, and four speed on shelf. I don't want to drop/slam her. Got truck within 1 inches of factory height in front with CV suspension swap with 16" wheels. The 1/2"diff in frame width from the 66 and up minor challenge, since that space needed for crush tube, but 6" channel steel, and minor fab fixed that. Don't throw rocks at me Ford fans, but using S10 power brake booster/master cylinder-had on hand, and small nuff to fit right if I add big block. Power steering pump was a challenge on the 223, but have a bracket built/installed, and working. Not thrilled with the wheels, but came with front suspension, will work for now.
Wow. Haven't see one of those since I was a kid. My mom worked in the town MP&L office for a few years & family friend was a lineman who drove one just like that for a while.
Nice score & good luck with your project.
Welcome to FTE & come down to the Mississippi chapter and introduce yourself. We have a member up around Southaven that put a CV front & rear under his 65.
