Death of shoeboxford--this will make you sick

Well I hadn't logged onto shoeboxford in a while. So I woke up a few minutes ago and couldn't help but notice an email on my phone from a new shoebox website. So I clicked on it and quickly learned that shoeboxford in Oklahoma apparently had a very "ugly" ending, and the owner, Ray, had the cars crushed. Here's the discussion on the HAMB. Shoeboxford gone. - THE H.A.M.B. And here is the new business that Chris has started after the breakup: home

From what I've read, there was no effort from the owner to sell off those cars before he put them in the crusher. A sad day indeed. Gonna try to go back to sleep.

But you have to look at it like this, each one of those cars is going to make either 6 Toyota trucks, 60 Toyota Prius (what is plural for Prius? Pri? Priui?), or 600 Smart Cars.

And yes, what happened to those cars is a crime against antiquities.

folding bucket seats? odd for a four door floor shift consul. Mercury ran, ran,
ran and ran more for 10yrs- bought her a Lincoln and the Merc I sold is still
running & we never did nothing to it. BUT NEVER A SHOEBOX my 49 with OD

Good point. I think they had basically picked those cars clean long ago, but it's hard to see them just cube em up like that. I've never met a shoebox owner who didn't know about that place.

Every time I see that front end, I think, of my grandfathers 50?, that he drove till he bought his 57. Very fond memories. Ill try not to remember the image of all those crushed cars. What a shame!

I do not know this to be fact but I have always thought the Government is involved when the owners of yards like this do something drastic such as what happened here.

Even though these vehicles haven run in 20 plus years the Gov wants to rid them as they were once gross pollution vehicles

Kevin, got to agree with you, the gov is trying to force most traditional junk yards out of business claiming they are eyesores, ground water polluters. A more likely reason is they have low property values so don't pay much taxes for the area they cover.
