Turn signal issues

Hey guys,

My turn signals have never automatically turned off since I bought it so today I went to replace the switch. I bought the repair kit and installed it. I went to test it and it worked except for the right turn signal indicator light didn't flash. I pulled it off and then tried the emergency flashers. There was a small puff of smoke from the steering column I think but no noise. Now the turn signals don't work but the flashers still do. How can I test if the whole switch is dead or if the repair kit is just installed wrong.

Update: all of the pads on the switch are connected to ground (with my multimeter on the connectivity signal setting all the pads are connected and all of then are connected to ground) is this normal?

I attempted to replace the top of my switch with no good results. I replaced the entire switch. A note on this is Ford used the same switch with exception of harness length in many different vehicles. My column is a tilt unit from a '78/'79. I ended up using a turn signal switch from a T Bird. I think it was a '77.

Replaced the turn signal switch assembly, and I still don't have the auto cancel. Im thinking I'm missing a part on the wheel that hits the canceling cam on the switch. But I have nothing to compare to.

Been so long, but I'm guessing there should be a pin hanging down on the back side of the wheel to catch the cancel tabs. I have a wheel in the basement, need to look at it to see.

EDIT: PIC IS FOR 2WD & 1967/72 F350

13318 = "Turn Indicator Turn Off Cam" / 13341 is the switch / 13A823 = "Horn Switch Brush Plate"

1971/72's use a 2 spoke wheel and vinyl horn pad.

What part are you asking for? Verify by looking at pic.

I think its 13318. But I have an aftermarket steering wheel so I don't know if it will work. Maybe I need 13A823 also.

On another note how the heck do you find all the places that have them and how many. I hate asking over and over again.

If I had known...up front...that the steering wheel was aftermarket, I would not have chimed into this thread. You didn't mention it until now.

Will the following work? I haven't a clue.

C7TZ-13318-A 1967/72 F100/350 / Obsolete

NOS ONLY in San Jose CA has 4 = 800-667-6659.

CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS in Concord NC has 204 = 800-476-9653.

Me too!

I have exactly the same problem. New T/S, aftermarket steering wheel and can't find out how to cancel turn signal!

I did not realize it was part of the steering wheel, thought it was integrated into the column
