Truck bed caps or toppers.

I maybe in the market for a new or lightly used truck in a few months, and I would like one of these toppers to go with it.

If I get one of the more aerodynamic type models do the hurt mpg or does it stay the same.

Nor a cap or a flush mount bed cover will help the MPG's on any truck. Security and aesthetics are the only bennies here.

I just purchased a new Ranch cap. I had one on my f250 & need the cap for keeping dj equiptment dry and fishing trips. I came down the highway lastnight at 70 mph and was at 21 mpg with the cap on and only 450 miles on the truck. If your concerned with color variations get a cap with a newer truck, the longer the sun beats up your paint will be tough to match.

I have an ARE DCU (commercial aluminum) topper on my 09 F150. The weight and the drag did affect the gas mileage somewhat. However, it's not built to be nearly as streamlined as the fiberglass models.

I put a Century cab high on my f150 about 2 months ago and have not noticed any change in mileage. it is fiberglass but only weighs a couple hundred pounds so I don't think it will make any difference, course I'm only getting 14.6 mpg with it anyway

Thanks guys.

I knew tonneau's could help or at worst not hurt mpg, and I was hoping the same for the topper.

I took my son last night to get desert, and a soda for myself. Then I saw a ccsb 4x4, and I loved the expedition look of the topper. So if I have to get a new truck I would like to do that on a smaller scale.
