04 6.0L air filter

Doing some routine maintenance I figured it was high time to change the air filter on my 2004 Ford f250 6.0L diesel. so I went down to the local napa and got a new filter for the truck but in turn he did tell me about this:
NAPA AUTO PARTS

I'm not so much looking to up performance, but I don't want to hurt it either. the salesman said that the truck would actually run better with this style rather than the stock air filter style on the truck. (not to mention it would make changing it a lot easier.) the filter style that's on the truck now is the typical "in house" filter if you will, meaning the filter is enclosed in the housing upon purchase. has anyone changed to this conversion style of filter and is it worth changing? any input would be greatly appreciated!

Worthless, any filter that sits in that housing is going to be smaller and less effective than the stock one. Keep the stock setup, and get a correct filter with the blue media. Unless you're going crazy on dirt roads, it should last 50,000+ miles easily.

Changing it is easy, there's just a couple more steps than a normal drop in but its still a 30 second process:

Unclamp one end of the degas hose, loosen the hose clamp, remove the air filter minder, and the whole thing lifts out nice and easy.

There's no real reason to change out the air filter until the minder tells you to, some guys have pushed it well past 50k. I do it every 30k for the heck of it.

perfect! thankya much. that's kind of what I was figuring too but I figured i'd ask just for kicks and giggles. the stock filter I just pulled we got about 55k out of it. but the only time we ever really use it is when were pulling the camper, dump runs, once and a while to ND moving the kids to college and all that, otherwise I just drive my jeep and the wife drives her new fusion titanium as our daily drivers.

The OEM 6.0 filter is the best you can run for filtration and long running flow.
