2000 F250 Front Lead Replacement

As the title states I am trying to replace the front leaf springs on a 2000 F250. My truck currently has an 8" lift on it. I have read through the manual and it is telling me that I need to take the read wheels off the vehicle and jack up the axle. Is this a typo? Why the heck would you need to take the read wheels off? Does anyone have a walkthrough for this proceedure? Also, cane anyone guide me to some jackpoints on a truck that has an 8" lift? Thanks guys.
