Valve rattle/tic/thud (With video)
Alright ill try to make this short. I have a 88 f250 351w. I have converted the truck to a carburetor and gotten rid of everything not needed under the hood.
I rebuilt the engine around 2500 miles ago ran it EFI for a while and then did the conversion. I got the engine running pretty well minus a noise and smoke coming from my passenger side valve cover. I already replaced the push rods, and the headers are not leaking. any one have any idea what it could be? hear is a link to a video so you can hear the noise

If you only installed push rods, and not lifters and valves, it could be that one of the pushrods is not fully seated in the lifter.
I would pull the valve cover off, start the engine and pinpoint which valve is giving you trouble. It'll be a little messy, but worth the trouble.

Thanks
19 f250 88. I've heard that same noise from a rocker hitting the valve cover baffle before.Since it already has 2500 miles on it you think there would be some kind of mark somewhere if that was the case.probly need to get a stethoscope and and try to pin point the noise.

You removed all the smog equipment too I bet right? Is this the original motor for this truck? If not did it come from a 1/2 ton truck by chance, and if so did you plug the holes in the back of the heads after removing the air tube that went across the back of the motor?

1. Check the torque on your valves
2. Try to move the valves side to side to see if there's any play in the valve guides. One of them could be getting sloppy.
3. Could be a bad valve spring. Just a thought. No one has brought it up yet.
From the video, it doesn't sound like a typical lifter noise to me. I kind of doubt you have a lifter issue.
