7.3 goes to low idle
my 2000 7.3 will randomly go to low idle. Does not happen often and usually happens with in 5 miles of home. At first it seemed to be only in cool (<50) weather, but just last week it did it again- 90+ degrees.
When it happens, I put in neutral, turn motor off, and recrank, then all is fine for X-# months.
I have changed the fuel filter and air filter.
suggestions?

Most likely cause: the IVS.
Blow the dust out of the Idle Validation Switch (IVS). It's a part of the pedal assembly. Three small nuts and a connector (or two), and the whole pedal assembly comes out of the truck.
If the Engine Control Module (ECM) doesn't "see" that switch closure, it won't take the engine off of idle, no matter what voltage the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is sending it.
