Wanting a 2009 Navigator L, new to Lincoln

Hey everyone! New member, I have a quick question for the experts here, I am looking to trade my wife's 2010 LaCrosse CXS 58K for a 2009 Navigator L Elite Package 5.4L V8.. It has 97K miles on it, should I run from it? What should I be looking for in this particular year? Any recalls I should be aware of before I buy? Are there any trouble spots that need attention? What to look for when driving this particular model? Any insight would be great! Thanks

Recalls shouldn't be a show stopper, if there have been any the dealer has to perform them, there is no time limit.

They won't be a show stopper. Just want to know about any so that I can take it to the dealer to make sure they have been taken care of.

No recalls on a 2009 according to the NHTSA web site.

Not sure if I would go for that unless it's a smoking deal. With that kind of mileage the drivetrain would be fine, but it's other things you have to think about like the air suspension, deployable running boards, window regulators, alternator, plugs/COPs (if they've ever been done), and typical suspension bits if needed. Plus, depending on the previous owners you could be looking at transmission problems within 50k miles or be good for 100+. Just a crap shoot really depending on how well it was maintained.

Asking $21,998. It books out for around $5K more than that. Also offering a 4yr/100K mile warranty for $1500 which would cover all those things. Even with the warranty it does make me a little nervous, not used to owning a vehicle with that many miles....but can't really afford a Navigator with low mileage.

Well again it's just me. Make sure that the warranty 100k warranty would start at the mileage indicated on the vehicle along with the year starting on the day it was purchased. Also, check to see the deductibles required for warranty work (most aftermarket warranties have a tiered plan) and who the warranty would be through and read the reviews on them. Usually most dealerships do not sell Ford warranties when they are pitching it and it is in fact some 3rd party warranty company. Is there any Expedition's that have all the goodies you are wanting in that price range? I know when it gets to be about that pricing they both are around the same. Like I said the 5.4L is pretty much bullet proof if taken care of, it's just the rest of the vehicle. Just see if they have records of maintenance and see how much they are willing to do for you prior to sell if they don't have said records (transmission flush, spark plugs, coolant, brake fluid, etc etc)

Our '07 Navi L has been great.

Perfect? No. Heated seat needed some love, spark plugs got replaced this past summer (75,000 miles, 7 years old), and the power running boards like to get some lubrication from time to time.

You could spend $70,000 on a leather lined 2015 Chevy Suburban or $23,500 (with warranty) on the Navi. I don't think the Navi will give you $50,000 of aggravation, so I'd get the Lincoln!
