Curious what everyone thinks of the deal on this F100. I know that this truck is not what some would want, but for all that has been done to it what's the opinion of the price?

1954 Ford F-100 chopped top W/ 468 B.B.

I'm not looking to buy.........just a discussion with a friend on value of modified vehicles.

I couldn't afford the gas, let alone the asking price.

Drew,

I think it is in the right ballpark price wise for a turn key. The louvers in the hood and tailgate may not be as popular as they once were.

That was my opinion also and that is assuming that the truck looks well done up close.

By the way........where have you been? Haven't seen or heard from you lately. Hope everything has been going ok.

You couldn't do half of what's been done to that for $16k. Not a fan of that much chop, but it appears to be well done. It would be easy to sell off the louvered stuff. Appears to be 'glass fendered?

That was my point in the conversation regarding the selling price regardless whether the style is your cup of tea. I usually try to stay out of debates on prices of fabrication, bodywork, and paint, but it seems that many of the people that I talk to don't have a clue.

Still assuming that the example vehicle had quality work and still in good condition.

Drew you ever heard of this address 983 Nissan Blvd?. I even stayed around the house and passed on going to NSRA in Louisville Saturday. I started to call you my license plate holder rusted in half and I lost my plate and recently purchased SO-Cal License plate frame. Had to cancel my old Antique plate and get another one. Fortunately Richard had a bracket.

Without seeing the truck in person to judge the quality of the workmanship, it would be difficult to say whether the price was correct. That said, assuming the workmanship was good, the price is very fair. I am a body and paint guy so I can appreciate the work that has been done on this truck and I know that I wouldn't do it for anything close to the $16K asking price. The tweed interior is dated but the truck seems to have good bones. There are many features of this truck that could get overlooked by just a casual glance: the Altman latches are very interesting, the builder chose to place them lower on the jamb than the indent where the original latch was located. The drivetrain, power doors, and A/C system are a definite plus and add value to the truck. If a potential buyer liked the look of the chop, the BBC, and the satin finish then this truck would be a steal for them....however, if a chop is not your style and you would rather have some shine on your truck then you may be running some numbers in your head to see if this would be a truck you would buy.

The price is certainly fair for what's there. He's got 16 grand in parts. The rest of the truck is free. I agree with the others in that it's dated and probably not what i would look for in a cruiser, but for the guy looking for that truck, it's a fair deal.
