1977 f100 302 possible vacuum problem

The truck will start right up after having to pump the pedal a couple times. It will run for few mins then shut off. It started randomly while coming home from work. I got to a stop sign and it shuts off. And will keep shutting off if I don't have it at least half way to the clothed just put on a new fuel pump. So the only thing I could think it would be is the egr valve. I just now put it on. It runs nicer but it still shuts off at a stop. I am clueless now. An y help would be appreciated

What lead you to believe the EGR valve is related to the problem?

How long since the last tuneup? What is your idle speed set to, and what kind of vacuum readings do you see at idle? Have you tried adjusting the idle mixture (which requires a vacuum gauge)?

That's because you haven't actually diagnosed the problem yet, but rather randomly replaced parts.

My brother in law had a 76 model and his did the same thing. And his ended up being the egr. And I Haven't checked the vacuum readings yet. And the I would guess the idle is set to around 700 to 900 rpm my truck doesn't have a tach. So I had to guess. The last tune up was about 6 months ago. And about 75% of the parts are still original on the engine. New parts are fuel pump. And alternator. Its got a Holley 2 bbl on it but I can't tell what size tho.
