I have been told that I might have a bad ground wire on my 2000 Navigator 5.4. How do you test this theory and what do I need to buy in order to do this? Thanks!
You need a digital meter. Then with one lead on the negative battery terminal you touch the other lead to the engine block, then the body. In both cases where you touch the leads has to be clean metal. The readings you get should not exceed 0.5 volts. If the readings are 0.5 volts or less the grounds are okay.
Thank you so much! I just want to make sure I have this correct. With the meter I attach one to the neg post and the other to the engine block. I then touch the ground wire and if it measures 0.5 or less, it is good?

Not quite...you go from battery negative to engine block and note the reading. Then you go from battery negative to body/frame and note the reading. Neither of these two readings should exceed 0.5 volts.
