Dually to Single?

I was winding how hard it would be to convert a dually pickup into a single wheel pickup. There is a pickup that I am looking at getting but it is a dually and I don't like the looks of it. If I am correct the wheel bases in the front and rear will be a different width.

Thanks for the help

Alright then does anyone know what the widths of a dually axles are? If they are different widths could I just slap a 350 regular axle under there or would they not align correctly?

Thanks

its a pickup right not a cab and chassis ? the rear is approx 6" wider per side but a single wheel axle will bolt up

don't buy the truck.there are plenty of srw's out there if your looking for one of those.
if the deal is just too good to pass up,then swap out the bed and the rear axle with srw versions and sell the drw parts.the front hubs can also easily be changed over.you'll need 4 srw rims and appropriate lug nuts.the dually bed and rear are both worth a quick easy $500 each all day.with either item bringing in near double that at times.

IIRC, the dually axle is 4" wider than the SRW axle (both Sterlings). But the spring perches will be the same as long as the dually is NOT a C&C model.

I have both an '88 F350 dually, and an '88 F350 SRW that I can get measurements from on Monday. Just let me know what you need

Yes it is a pickup that I am looking at. The reason I ask is because I have been looking for a pickup for 6 months and cant find one for a good price in good condition. I can find duallys all over the place. My criteria is

low miles under170,000
460 or turbo diesel
4 door long box
ok body (will be repainting all black)

I guess I will just keep looking and lower my standards a little bit and save my pennies

Dually axle is 6" wider than a SRW pickup axle(3" per side)

I agree with FORDF250HDXLT
