Anyone know where to buy the o-ring for the tranny dipstick tube on a C6?

My tranny dipstick tube is leaking where it connects to the transmission. I know it's an o-ring, but where can I buy a replacement?

Any place that sells O-rings, just find the right size, slip it on and slip the tube back in the hole.

It's not any special O-ring, just any will do.

Put some grease or oil on it before slipping it on.

I had some viton seals in the garage the last time i had a leak, so i did just installed one of those last year. But now it's leaking again, so i figured I needed a real seal. the PO just used permatex when I bought it, and that didn't work so I didn't have an original o-ring to compare it against.

I used just a regular rubber O-ring I found in my tool box on my van, and hasn't leaked since I replaced it 2 years ago.

This is on my to-do list too. Shouldn't be too bad to get to in the van, right?

Ah heck no, just take the dog house off, and you can pull the dipstick out from there, shove down your arm beside the floor board, pop the new O-ring back in, and pop 'er back in.

Did you guys drain some tranny fluid off before doing this? I'm thinking if I just park uphill with the left side high that I shouldn't lose too much fluid.

I did this in my flat driveway and I don't remember anything much coming out, but doing it on a hill be a safe idea at least.

The hill idea is smart just in case it's up to the level of the o-ring. I put in a universal drain plug in my tranny pan last time i did a tranny fluid change and filter change. And yeah, the van tranny access is amazing. John is right, it's easily accessible once you have the doghouse cover off, and/or from under side. the hardest part about it is lining it up, so if you have a helper, (one guy on the inside of the van, lining up and bolting down the tube, and the other guy on the underside, sliding on the o-ring and seating the tube in the tranny) that's the best possible scenario. but you can do it all by yourself too.
