03 F250 5.4L axle leaking HELP!!!

Hi Everyone!
Not new here just been a while..
Here's my problem while replacing brake pads i found that my axle has leaked fluid on the pss, side rear rotor and all over ..
I been looking for any info on repairing it myself . I found Everything for every other truck just not for this truck.

It's 2003 F-250 w/5.4L all Stock rear axle has 12 bolts and gears are 7.73
I believe its a Dana 60. No tags or markings on the Axle to go by..

I live in the Freak-en woods here so i like to order all the right parts once and do over the weekend .. its my only ride so once apart im stuck here....

PS. I did check the Vent Tube its fine..

Thanks in Advance for any help....

Jay

its very uncommon for the inner seal to leak, most of the time the rubber vent hose is clogged shut so it causes pressure to build up in the axle and the oil leaks out. On the top of the front diff there should be a 1/4" rubber hose that goes up to the frame pull it out and either clean it or just replace it, its old anyways. Then there is the nipple the hose goes on it simply screws into the diff remove the vent fitting and clean it out if its clogged up. If so you found the problem!

I'd say take a look Jason's tech articles: 2004 F250 Ball Joint Replacement

It gives a very detailed teardown of the front end and seal replacement. If you are going to take the time to do them and it is your only vehicle, I'd say replace as many of the front parts as you can. I had one ball joint go on my Ranger, and I did all the ball joints, tierod ends, and outer u-joints. That way I only needed one alignment and everything was set for another 50-100k of abuse. I realize that SD parts are more expensive, but I'd rather pony the money up at once rather than be inconvienced at a later time

On the flip side, use a ton of brake cleaner and make sure the diff has a fair amount of fluid in it. If you are not using 4x4 and your front hubs are unlocked, the gear lube isn't doing much besides rust protection.

Rear axle on a 03' F-250 is the Sterling 10.5. Check Rock Auto for parts.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, it's the front axle leaking
