It's an interesting concept, I'll give ya that. Although I love the 78-9's for their 4wd capabilities, I'm willing to open my mind. I'd like to see the ending outcome of this little street rod project ONLY if you don't "slam" it and put big chrome rims on it. Then... then I will be disappointed.

Slammed bronco sounds terrible imo, but I have no room to talk, threw a 390 in a suburban and welded powered by ford over the cheby emblem lol. If you could find a 2wd truck or Bronco that would be easiest. I do like the idea of taking a newer style exploder suspension to do it. That way you could still have some capability.

Not sure how your build is going to work with the Lincoln parts and Crown Vic parts, but have fun!! My buddy was going to 2WD his Bronco when he busted the front end. He took it all apart.......and then he got married!! The Bronco got put into a container and sent overseas! I'm pretty sure you have to change the steering gear....they are different between 2WD and 4WD. I think they turn opposite directions!! How that plays into the Crown Vic front end......don't know!!! Your IRS Lincoln rear end....you might want to measure it to see the width. Custom bags on the 9" rear might be a little more feasible......but who knows!! Have fun!

I believe a Crown Vic uses rack and Pinion steering right? That would be a lot of conversion work from our steering boxes to that I think.

Yea....I think......my memories of a Crown Vic aren't good ones!! I think they are rack and pinion. A rack and pinion would definitely make for quicker steering!

Quicker but probably not as strong. I guess it won't matter so much if it's lowered and stuff. It won't be curb hoping or offroading anytime soon.

I bought a 79 parts bronco that I just got the body off of. Once I get it stripped down I will know more about what will fit

a slammed bronco is just wrong. now if u have the money and time to do such a thing..... I still don't like it. mess with pansy crap like a 2wd nissan truck. not a full sized bronco. anything is possible. dont make it right.

Good read on the Crown conversion.

If you want to go with more of a "Gasser" design dragster look a simple axle can be built that would consist of a tube with dana 44 Cs welded on and Ford knuckles out.
Uses the stock steering. I would replace the coils with leafs and a track bar though.

Ford toyed with the idea of a "Lightning Bronco" back in the day...
