First ride
Grace took me for a short ride today for the first time. Not ready for a road trip yet, but we went to moms (a 2 block ride) then up the road about a mile or so. As I passed my neighbor a 1/4 mile up the road, he was smiling big and waving. Just about that time the muffler fell off.. lol..
That is the only incident in the 2 mile round trip... I am happy.
This pick was taken at mom and dads this evening.
Wife took some video, I will try to post it later.
Notice my redneck fuel tank bungee strapped to the front bumper...

progress
I have have been busy lately with little time for posts but I have made some progress. New spring pins and bushings in rear including shackle pins and bushings. I thought about three hours would get it done, but it took me 6 hrs. I put new springs under the front along with new pins and new frame pins and bushings. I expected to spend 3-4 hrs there but it turned into 7 hours. Required heavy hammer repeatedly applied. Had to torch right side frame pin to get it out because it was stuck tight in the bushing. I didn't see that coming as it is supposed to pivot there. She sits nice and level now. I used a 10 leaf spring that was listed to fit 56 F500 panel. Worked out great.
I also adjusted the valves. So quiet under the hood now. I love it. Runs better too. Fixed leaky exhaust manifold gasket and installed a glass pack muffler (sounds nice) and rebuilt carb. Got a few new pics of progress.

I sort of like the bare frame look. Albatross' frame was bobbed just about where your angled braces hit. That was to clear the tail-end of the dump bed when it lifted. Surprisingly, it's still a bear to turn around in a city neighborhood. Just ask the neighbor with the brand new brick mailbox monolith.
