Deciding on headach rack, need help
Ok as some already may be aware I have a camper, and it worked for what I needed at the time, but I kinda no longer want/need it, and its starting to interfere with vision for me, not a good thing, so I decided I want to swap back to my tool box which I really do miss, however I still want to have the protection afforded by the camper for the back sliding window (to keep people from getting into my truck to take things like what happened last year, so I decided to get a headache rack to solve that issue, however there seems to be so many options out there its a bit confuseing and sadly its hard to find product pics of them on our trucks...
so does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations of headache racks or pictures of them on your trucks that I could see to get a better idea of what some will look like on my truck?
also I want to make sure any headache rack I get is able to be installed WITH a tool box as well.

I went through the same thing when I was looking for a headache rack for my truck, Only I needed something heavy enough to haul lumber and ladders, but I wasn't going to pay for a full ladder rack. After looking for awhile I found the Backrack at a local trucking shop. They can be ordered online, but I knew the owner of the trucking place so I got a deal on it. I also like that there is no drilling required for these, they mount right in the stake pockets.
You will also need the optional toolbox bracket like I have.

The shop I got it from actually installed it for me, free of charge. I was doing a job right across the street so I dropped it off on my lunch break and got it back in about an hour. But I don't think it weighs more then 50lbs.
It doesn't affect my visibility at all, I can still see clearly through the rear view mirror.

So not exactly seeing how the vent windows are a failure point for security.

The thieves around here have broken into my fathers and a couple friends of ours trucks via the vent window, and my dads even had a slider.
On my dads truck they bent the vent window frame enough to break the plastic latch with a screwdriver. My friends just had the top rivet popped off so they could reach in and use the door handle.

well it would be to deture the break in bit, but I also do love having the window open while driving, especially on the motor ways, I love to leave the windows up and the rear open...if I didn't drive with it and use it as much as I do I would agree I would look into swaping to a solid piece of glass, but I just love the rear window too much, plus it also allows me to be able to let the dogs stick there head into the cab if they have to be in the bed area for some reason...plus I been wanting to remove the camper and get a headach rack and put the tool box back on for a year now.
