1990 460 ecu w/E4OD What ecu code to look for

I thought I had the thread saved but can't find it, searched and can't find what I was looking for.

What years 460 had an e4od trans, that had same wiring and tfi module, that will be compatible with my 90 f150 5.8 wiring harness.

I haven't been able to find an older 460efi in junkyard with an od trans, just manual and c6, and just found on eBay an ecu claiming to be from a 91 a d e4od trans.

FORD F250 PICKUP 90 Elec Cont Unit (ECU); 8-460 (7.5L), AT, ID F0TF-ATA
FORD F250 PICKUP 91 Elec Cont Unit (ECU); 8-460 (7.5L), AT, E4OD, ID F0TF-ATA
FORD F350 PICKUP 90 Elec Cont Unit (ECU); 8-460 (7.5L), AT, ID F0TF-ATA
FORD F350 PICKUP 91 Elec Cont Unit (ECU); 8-460 (7.5L), AT, E4OD, ID F0TF-ATA
FORD F450 PICKUP 90 Elec Cont Unit (ECU); 8-460 (7.5L), AT, ID F0TF-ATA
FORD F450 PICKUP 91 Elec Cont Unit (ECU); 8-460 (7.5L), AT, E4OD, ID F0TF-ATA
FORD VAN 90 Elec Cont Unit (ECU); 8-460 (7.5L), ID F0TF-ATA
FORD VAN 91 Elec Cont Unit (ECU); 8-460 (7.5L), E4OD, ID F0TF-ATA

Is the description of compatibility.
Looks like it will work, just wanted to check. It's $75 shipped, gotta price out a new/refurb one from parts store next.

I'm not sure if I just want to put a 460 ecu in my truck (lots of mods planned but may tone it down) or swap to maf and hope it runs well enough until I get a chip burned or get quarter horse.
Tuning isn't new to me, I've done it with sct, dsmlink, megasquirt, hondata, tunercat, and tweecer, I just don't want to mess with this one much. Double edged sword really. Truck is a turd with stock 351, and the mods I have the parts for are going to make it need a custom tune. And now that rear main and tq converter seal is leaking, and its consuming or leaking coolant, I need to pull the motor... Which means more mods are easy to do.

Crap.

That PCM should work for your intended application.

That's quite a list of computers. I forgot to check oldfuelinjection. Always a great resource.
Unfortunately none of the 460 computers I'm looking at are on that list...
But it's a great reference for sure when you're looking through a pile of computers like I have at my other shop or when I'm at junkyard.

Now the big choice is, just pop in the 460 ecu for now or go with maf swap. I'll probably lazy out and buy a 460 ecu for now and see how it runs. Hmmm

MAF swap isn't that hard, with PCM out you are 1/2 done. The MAF conversion on the harness can be done in a couple of hours if you have what you need on hand. The tuning afterwards is the more difficult part.

I already have all the stuff for a maf swap. Ecu is sitting on the shelf here. Airbox and hoses have been in for 4 months now. Just been procrastinating way too much, then inspection time comes and I didn't want to do it then, now I'm back to procrastinating.
Repinning the ecu isn't a big deal. I just need to get the ambition to do it.
If I do maf swap, I wonder if I can just load in the 460maf program and tweak it from there.
If this truck were a toy then I'd be all over the tuning. This is a driver and tow my car occasionally kinda truck.
I just don't want to spend the money on the QH I guess. I need to fi d someone local with it so I can check it out.

Go and get TunerPro for free. After you load the strategy and calibration, you'll see what the tables and things are like. You don't need the hardware to see that. You can do the same with Binary Editor, although for this you'll need a license to write to the tuner.

You can also see what data logging items you'll have in TunerPro without the hardware. This may give you an idea. It's daunting at first but it's not as bad as it looks.

You'll only need the hardware to write a tune and to data log in real time.

Just had a thought, you might be better off with binary editor as I THINK it supports more ECUs than tuner pro. I only use the A9L (VERY common)calibration and am not terribly familiar with what else is out there.
