well it all started around 5PM. i got my new aluminum ford racing valve covers and fel pro gaskets. so, i start the teardown and it goes easy. get the valve covers off and the old gaskets were TRASHED. now its time to start re-assemby. i get everything cleaned up nicely, lay down the RTV and the new gasket, and finally the valve cover. well wouldnt ya know, the new valve covers have a thicker flange and the stock bolts are too short! so here i am, running around trying to find longer bolts. and i tell ya, if youre going on an emergency parts run at 6:30PM, youre gonna have a bad time. i finally find what i need but by the time i get home the RTV has set and the cover wont budge, now i gotta rip it off and start all over again tomorrow. needless to say, im a little irate and in need of a beer or 20 right now! you guys think ill be able to re use the gasket?

 

If they are set on good, I would put the bolts in and call it good.

Just tighten the bolts down and call it a day.
