A manual clutch question

I have a question Re: the frame-clutch-pivot-stud center-line relative to the bell-housing.

The back-story: My 86' DD has a hydraulic clutch and has some issues regarding a weak firewall. In the process of an engine change I have decided to "fix" this problem by reverting back to a manual clutch arrangement utilizing parts that I have. My reasons for doing this go deeper than this discussion merits..so since I AM doing this..

As near as I can determine the center-line of the clutch-pivot-ball on the engine is about 1-1/8" forward of the bell-housing-plane.

Can anyone, (hey AB) confirm that the frame stud is 90 degrees (perpendicular) from the engine?

If I had one parked near me I could see this of course but I don't.

The salvage yards that have any of these either no longer have a bell, or frame mount, or are either to unsafe to crawl u'neath to double check...

So, I thought I'd pose the question..

Kinda boring..I know but..thanks anyway for any input...

I think he means the other end of the z bar on the frame.

I would assume it's directly opposite the one on the engine.

I can't remember if I left mine on or removed it. I'll go take a look.

inre to the parts catalog pics 1983/86 applications:

Only 1983 F250/350 with 6.9L & 7.5L came w/a hydraulic clutch. 1984 was the first year for everything else. U150 = Bronco.

Below: 1983/86 Hydraulic ~ See post 6 for 1980/83 Linkage Actuated.

Serving suggestion. Since you don't want the juice clutch, why not go with a cable? The z-bar and frame/bell pivots are a pita when they wear, and if you have misalignment to begin with, they will wear even faster.

Just a thought...

I actually have that part,(although don't let any spares get away from you if you run a manual clutch)

It's the location on the frame for part "7507" (the frame-plate-pivot-ball) in number dummy's picture that I need to locate the holes for. (My 86' didn't come with any holes.)

I have in my possession a "7507 I purchased from a salvage yard that bolt holes on 5" centers. I'm not sure the years came with the same "7507" with mount holes accordingly but I assume so for 80"-83"

I actually post this question on the F150 side of FTE as well and Gary was kind enuf to take a pic of an 82' frame with some holes.

I looked at an 84' today for another reason and it looked like it had holes on a longer center than 5" so, AB, what are your thoughts of the holes centers on your "84? Also if you still have that frame pivot ball installed, is it directly perpendicular to the ball on the block? I would assume so, Just don't have a reference in front of me...

Thanks all for the input, and as in any project, good info just helps to sort things out...

Also if anyone has a manual clutch bell un-cracked, I'm looking for a SPARE, along with any of the other necessary related parts. I have a complete set from an f150, not sure which year, but I have decided to collect some spares of all of the related stuff..as others have said...Things wear out, and break...

I am familiar with the cable arrangement for a T-5 t-bird..In your travels feel free to relate any links to the info for the adaptation of the cable, At this point I am looking at options that relate to a little better adjustment feel than a Hydraulic solution.

I AM working on a heims joint solution for the rod as well...thanks for the input for sure.
