Hey guys. Im looking to upgrade the ol Stroker and squeeze some more power out of it. The engines coming out to fix some problems and going back in in hopefully not stock form (depending on budget).
I think I can plumb the propane myself without a problem. Will I need a custom tune to make it work or is it plug and play? And can it be installed to come on at the flip of a switch or will it need to run the entire time the engines running? I have zero experience with propane. Thanks guys!
There are several ways to make good power out of a 7.3 A set of stage 1 injectors, t500 hpop and a good fuel system will make you good reliable power. Propane is called "Propain" for a reason... I highly suggest that you don't mess with it.
If you give Jim Rose over at Rosewood Diesel a call he can get you setup with injectors and you will find you don't need as many pennies as you think lol.
"If" lol. On Rosewoods site they say injectors hardly ever pass inspection lol
after 200,000+ miles of truly unknown diesel you have to assume the injectors will be a little beat up. then my fear is waking up the engine and surprising the transmission! they are very used to each other. i assume op is handling that separately.
Its still under deliberation lol. Im stuck between keeping the auto and upgrading it or sinking several grand into a parts truck with a ZF5. I think in the end keeping the auto would be cheaper and less work but its sure fun driving a stick!
^^^ You got that right. I HATE transmissions in every way, shape, and form. Theyre a HUGE PITA to take out, fix, and reinstall. Especially the reinstall... Id rather spend some cash and make sure the tranny up to par than have to take it back out in a couple weeks lol
