2014' F-150 CNG CONVERSIONS

Great news but the 3rd party conversion price, $9,500, is totally illogical. So far over-the-top it's unreal. Federal tax credits as well as more CNG conversion entities (which will lower these prices drastically) are needed here. But I for one would buy this F-150 today. Natural gas equivalent in my area vs gallon of gas is about $.89. GE is also working on a Federally financed grant ($3.2M) to develop "in-house" CNG fuelers for $500. Due out next year at the latest.

I work on the natural gas pipeline and I wonder if they will switch our work trucks over to run on natural gas. The price tag looks like too much, but we could save at a higher rate since we would probably be paying less for the gas.

I heard that news too, but how far can you go on a tank? I need to go about 400 miles between fill ups sometimes. And, where to get gas?

Saw somewhere that the range is upward of 700 miles. Also, only two-three years to recoup cost based on current prices of gasoline and CNG. Might be a table setter here, good work by Ford.

My uncle has a Chevy Cavalier "CNG" he purchased at a gov't auction about 5 years ago. He explained that you can switch in his car from gasoline or CNG. So if the Ford setup is anything like that, perhaps you can double your range by depleting the CNG tank first and driving the remaining balance on gasoline?

CNG f-150

Had my 2012 F-150 C.C. 4X4 5.0, converted to cng with a 24 gallon tank in bed. Cost was high....but was blowing around $80- $100 a week on gasoline, now around $30 on cng.....its $1.00 a gallon in NE Oklahoma compared to to $3.65 for gas. Just drove to Virginia and back from Ok. Truck did 350 miles on cng fill up which averages around 17 gal on tank full never get the full 24 gal fillup on tank. Depends on filling station also for a good fillup and pressure at pump. Power is down some u can tell, when getting on it, but i can switch to gasoline when needed. So far its working good for me.....just depends on staion locations for cng in your area. Does take up room in bed like a big chest tool box would, I have the 5.5 bed wished i had got the 6.5 bed only regret!!
Also from the the none stop trip back from Virginia to home 18 hrs! Truck did 650 miles on gasoline then 350 on cng! Not bad!

CNG

Turbo Dog:

No icing up....motor starts on gas and once warms up to about 100 degrees it then switches to cng.

We have some 2013 XL Supercabs at work with the 3.7....they run out real NICE!
