02 ST 2wd Rear End swap!

02 ST 2wd Rear End swap!
Ok, so here is the deal. My 02 ST 2wd project pre-runner has completely worn out leaf spring eyelet bushings. This means the weight of the vehicle and any shock normally absorbed by the bushings is now metal to metal. To make matters worse, the rear end can move freely forward, sideways, and backwards in the spring eyelet. Not good!
Ford wants $90.00 per bushing. This does not include the rear shackles ect. Nobody on the market makes a bushing to fit my orphan 02 ST. Some have claimed, but none have succeeded.
The answer; Since my 02 has drums in the rear, and much larger tires than the 235/75/16's, I felt a gear change and disc brakes were in order. I can find an 8.8, w/leaf springs and used but better bushings, a 4.10 gear w/limited slip, disc brakes, all for just a tick more than the ridiculous price from FORD. To be exact, I get all the above for $262.00.
This whole package comes from a late 90's Eddie Bauer Explorer, or Mercury. The 4.10 gears will put me closer to what I need compared to whats in there now. I do know the Explorers typically have a 100lb lighter spring rate compared to the ST. This lighter spring rate works well for what Im building. I will be modifying the spring rates anyhow. I have not measured the springs ect for t he 03 ST's. But at the wrecking yard, its all about timing.
Any thoughts?
