90 f150 4x4 xlt lariat 5.8 4x4 e4od not starting

my transmission was shifting into what seemed like neutral through 1-2 then d then od. put on a new neutral safety switch harness started it up and still did the same thing. bought a new neutral safety switch. Now my truck wont start not even a click from the solenoid. Could it be a bad switch or something else? just in case does anyone have a wiring diagram for the pigtail that goes into the neutral safety switch. just in case thanks

Maybe it's the solenoid pack in the transmission which isn't working like it should? you meant shifting as in when you're driving, right?.

nope turn the key and nothing happens. the old neutral safety switch it would start right up with. while driving it would go into a neutral stage through gears. just pulled the tranny out of another truck which wasrunning without a problem

Then you need to check the wiring at both the MLPS and the solenoid pack.

Some good MLPS (Neutral Safety switch) info here: Steve83 MLPS Details

There is a chart with the pin-outs in the link above.

are you sure your shifter linkage isn't loose? That was my problem. there are two bolts that hold the shifter tight. when it's loose, the truck doesn't know it's in park and won't start. the shifter shouldn't have play. tightening them up takes 5 min. if you have some locktite blue, that would help in the future.
