i was wondering how i can check to see if i have a numbers matching truck. my truck has a 360fe, c6, and dana 60.
thanks in advance, Alice
You really can't.
With very few exceptions, Ford didn't stamp VINs on blocks and trannies. The closest you'll be able to get is "period correct" with the right combination and casting/engineering ID numbers that are applicable to the year and model. For example, a D3TA exhaust manifold wouldn't be correct for a 1972 or earlier truck where C7, C8, C9, D0, D1, and D2 would likely be acceptable. I don't have a Master Parts Catalog so this is only intended to explain the principle.
To drill down even further, body panels sometimes have the month, day, and, shift stamped on them. Among purists in 65-73 Mustangs, IIRC they have be within 60 days of when the part would have been used on the assembly line.
im thinking selling my truck and getting a crown vic cop car.
Hi there GamerGirl. Glad to see you're still around. Would be sorry to here you sold it but an ex-cop car could be a good idea. Most were serviced well even though they were beat up. Here in Phoenix the taxi companies love buying them. They put tons of miles on top of what the cops did. I hope all is well with you.

You cannot, no such thing on a FoMoCo vehicle, excepting Shelby Cobra/GT350/500 as 'ol Shel stamped VIN's on all sorts of parts. Shelby Club has ALL the records.
Numbers matching is a GM thing.
FoMoCo is in-famous for replacing/updating 10's of 1000's of part numbers EVERYYEAR!
So people should not go by Casting/ID or part number prefixes to ID what year the part is from, or what vehicle it fits.
Example: 240/300 exhaust manifold part number changed EIGHT times between 1965-1983.

Again, VIN stamps on blocks were not limited to Shelby models. Some Canadian cars got VIN stamps as well as R-Code, non-Shelby Mustangs.
The proper name is the Shelby American Automobile Club (SAAC)
