Looking at late model Explorers
Looking to upgrade my wife's ride and we've been looking at 2010 model Explorers. We had a 1998 that I got rid of 5 years ago - much to my regret.
I'm looking for some insight as to what to look for, what to stay away from, etc.
I'd really prefer a V8 but 90%+ of the ad's are for the six cylinder. Looked at an XLT 4x4 (V6) with Leather and Moonroof today. It was a certified pre-owned unit with 28k. Looked clean inside and out but I did not open the hood or take if for a test drive.
I've thought about springing for a new one but they are kind of pricey so if I can get a 3-4 year old one for half the price, it might be a better bet.

we have a 2007 EB 2 wheel drive with 115K, never been back to Ford for anything. Still rides and drives great, no squeaks, rattles, or clangs. mpg in town terrible, highway mpg as high as 24 at legal speeds.
