heater swap

I was wondering if and how hard it would be to remove all the heater components from a 3\4 ton and put in my 1/2 ton i would appreciate any and all the quick responses since I'm plan on going out to the junkyard friday.

all the heater components
What's your definition of all? Suitcase, ducts and all?

What are you trying to do?

The under-hood stuff is relatively easy, you'll need to remove the cowl to get at one bolt holding in the heater box, though.

For the stuff behind the dash, well, ya gotta drop the column & remove the dash, that takes a fair amount of time by itself - I'd give just that part 2-3 hours, depending on your tools & skill level.

Flex-head wrenches ROCK for this kind of work....

That's good.

I'm guessing you have A/C, then?

The scenario I had in my mind was an early 80s non-AC truck, replacing the heater core on such things is a PITA and, AFAIK, all 80-86 non-AC trucks are this way.

Here is a picture from the FoMoCo shop manual, the nut is being pointed to by the arrow near the M in FORD-TRUCKS.COM
