Where do we (you) get tires for these trucks!

I am looking for 4 (or 5) tires for my F3. The size is 7.00-17 (the spare was a 7.50-17) - so where do you usually go to get tires?

I do not need show quality $200 per tire, and it could be something you order online and have them shipped OR maybe there is a conversion to newer tires. I do not know if we have to keep them tube tires....

I plan on keeping and using my stock rims - (4) of them are not widowmakers - and (1) of them are (we call that one the 'spare tire').

Anything would help - ESPECIALLY if anyone knows of a place in the PHX valley.

Thanks!

I have bought all of mine from Coker Tire, but they are pricey. Firestone shops also sell some vintage sizes. Some even with white walls. Jag

Another Coker customer here. I've stayed with the bias ply stock style.

There is a small local guy close to home. He's been there for years a takes care of all of my tire needs. He'll order just about anything if he doesn't have it...including tractor tires.

Try to find a local guy & do business with him/her.

Our local Goodyear national chain shop has tried to rip me off both times that I went in there over the last 25 years. Last time, I found a drywall screw in the tread of my daily driver car...I was right next to Goodyear, so I went there for a repair. He said I'd need a new tire since the screw might be in the sidewall (this was after he took the tire off the wheel). I told him to put it back on & leave the screw in...I'd go elsewhere. He screwed the screw in to the bottom of the tread groove. When I got to the usual shop...my usual guy fixed the tire, but the screw was only 5/8 long...early on it hadn't punctured the tire until Mr. Goodyear screwed it in far enough to puncture.

The moral...find someone local who is good & keep going there!!

I'd be interested to know more about these. Are they maybe a modern Dodge set, or maybe a set off an old Chevy. Those are the only non-WM 17s I'm aware of.

As for 17" tires, there's a guy on eBay selling Tornel traction 7.50x17s for $169 each. I also see 17" bias plies on Craig's List frequently. That aside, I sure support the idea of supporting a local guy that you know and trust. Stu

On a 49 F3 SRW pickup or stake, could the wheels be the 8 lug 17" conventional wheels (non dually style), probably tube type?

Sure, that's what they'd be. But what vehicle did the wheels start life on? Any that are stock Ford are widow makers. Stu

I'm using 17" 8 bolt rims off a 95 Dodge 3/4 ton . You do however have to compensate for the backset .

I have had good luck on the 750 17s from Miller Tire in Ohio as a previous poster mentioned. I think they were the Tournels. Tall and skinny. Not like me.

Coker . Or as stated above find an independent shop . The guy down the street from me can order anything I want . But I get my tractor tires from my local Co Op , He will not mount them , and my back won't let me anymore .

So I am back to this and was wondering if you can post any photos of your tires / rims so I know what to look for. Thanks!
