Two questions - 1. When your camper is hooked up, does it sag in the back at all. I want to put a hitch on the back of mine, even though I won't be towing much, but when I stand in the bed, it seems like I'm bringing it down a bit. Maybe just an allusion.

2. I know this sounds dumb....but what is a throttle body and what does it do exactly? I know it somewhat does the job of a carb on a EFI engine, right? Where is it located at. I guess it would be good if I cleaned mine too.

Thanks for any help

The throttle body is located on the upper intake manifold. The intake tubes run into it. The throttle body controls the amount of air into the engine via the accelerator pedal. Is has those two blades that open and close to allow certain amounts of air through. If it is clogged up or really dirty it can cause performance issues as well as possibly having the plates of the throttle body stick open causing the truck to accelerate on its own. Not too likely but I image it can happen. Mine has 200k miles on and it is FILTHY, but I am too lazy to pull it again and clean it.

So is the throttle body hidden or can you access it fairly easy? Oh, and thanks for the response. I'm not mechanically inclined.

To remove it you have to take the intake tubes off, disconnect all of the electrical connectors for the IAC valve and TPS. Once those are disconnected there is the EVAP line that just slips and a pair of coolant line's. Then you disconnect the throttle linkage from the throttle body and move them out of the way. Might have to remove the mounting pate for them from the upper intake plenum. Then there are 4 bolt that hold it to the upper intake plenum.

For a little more detail feel free to go through this:

1992 Ford F-150 Intake Removal for Injector Swap pictures, videos, and sounds | SuperMotors.net

The first few pics go over the throttle body area, then the rest are the full removal of the entire upper intake assembly. I STRONGLY suggest that if you plan to take the throttle body, upper plenum or anything off of the throttle body, that every gasket you come across you replace with new.

hey great post Evan P!! its nice to see other people helping the "less mechanically inclined" haha. and yeah it is pretty simple to remove the throttle body. just look at the pictures I posted and then look at your own engine bay. you can see what and where it is, and then see what needs to be done to get it off. there may be a plastic cover over your throttle body. I have mine removed in all the pics

Can I ask where you got both those fans for under 60$? I'm interested in doing an electric setup and most of the fans I can find only are really pricey.

Just about any FWD Ford from the 90's. You also need a little different harness going to the alt, but it's not a big deal.

Here's a good thread with lots of pics and it has a link containing donor cars also.

here you go, you need to purchase (2) two fans
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLUE-12-SLIM-FAN-MITSUBISHI-PUSH-PULL-ELECTRIC-RADIATOR-COOLING-12V-1730-CFM-/130792878474?hash=item1e73dcf18a&vxp=mtrwire the fans to PULL not push.

although these fans are cheap, they are awesome quality. I have used them on a few different vehicles. my single row radiator with these fans runs under half temp with ac on and pulling a 3k lb camper 200 miles. need any more proof? haha.

then from autozone, you need to get 2 mounting kits , a accessory relay, and a switch of your choice.(or wire to power with key, or electronics thermostat, whatever you want)

Since your truck already has a 3G in it, you just need the alternator and to upgrade the charge cable from the factory 4 gauge to a 2 gauge cable with an inline 175A fuse. You need a side mount 130A 3G. Those can be found on these vehicles:
93-96 V8 Econoline with Air Conditioning or the High Output Alternator options
97-03 V6 Econoline E-Series or F-150
95-01 4.0 V6 Explorer or Ranger
94.5-97 Powerstroke Diesel F-Series

Thanks for the link! I've already got tons of acc. relays, wiring and crap laying around, just have to grab the mount kits.

Thanks again.
