If the price of diesel was where it should be, less than gas, it would be. And get rid of the EPA and let manufacturers focus on MPG rather than burning more fuel to reduce emissions.......

Price of fuel goes up. Be nice to have a 600hp vehicle as a daily driver but if it only gets 10mpg compared to a 300hp vehicle that gets 20 MPG, the 20 MPG one will probably get more buyers.
When have manufactorers ever tried to have peak mpgs?
just about every single car could benefit by doing something to it to help it achieve better fuel economy. My Escape hybrid achieves much of its fuel savings due to the CVT, not the battery.
One of the guys in eurowerks got 42+ with his 92 probe. (rated 28 hwy) that's a 50% improvement.
If mpgs were so important, why are trucks still aerodynamically challanged (although, they are WAY better than they were).
If its all about MPGs, where's my diesel Escape with the manual transmission? (or CVT!).
They might 'care' but only because the gov't requires it.
