Well starting MSRP for a XL, 2wd, 3.7, regular cab short bed is $24,070.

I just priced out a fully loaded XLT, 4x4, 5.0, regualr cab short bed with a MSRP of $36,410.

so i can easily assume its going to be over $30k for a 4x4.

jesus. I just priced out a reg cab, 4x4 XLT with EB motor. $38k without picking any extra options.

I don't know what Ford is smoking, but that is ludicrous!

every manufacture is doing the same, as the dollar drops in value prices go up.

hell a loaded lariat now is a 50+k truck! used to just barely touch 40k. the '03 super crew lariat fx4 we got that has every option was 38,800 i believe for a MSRP.

You guys remember back in the lates 70's, all through the 80's and early 90's? These short bed Rcab trucks were in high demand. They were fun to drive, very agile and great off roaders.

Very few people look at truck as toys anymore. They either have to have a bed that haul or a cab that can carry people or both.

IMHO, these trucks should come with a 6.2L and carry a max tow package so it will have some identifiable function to add to the sport. A big V-8 in these trucks will make them hold their value longer into the future.

Amazing how we have gotten so used to the higher prices no one even bats an eye at 35-40K. I was just thinking about the brand new 1990 F250 XLT reg cab 8' bed, 302 and 5 speed I bought. That was 19K and change and I thought that was a LOT back then. I have heard more than one older-than-me person say the price of the vehicle they recently purchased cost more than their first house. Just sayin'

there is inflation...but a reg cab truck is just that. a reg cab truck. it should be mid $20's. maybe low 30's if you pick every trick out of the hat that is offered. the bare bone "XLT" shouldn't be pushing $40k

I absolutely agree Tylus
EDIT: I just noticed you are now a "former" 6.0 PSD owner, like several of us up here

not because of any issues with the motor. I finally found a decent Excursion that I was willing to purchase. My 2006 F-250 went to her next owner with 15,001 miles on the odometer and zero issues

wish my X had a PSD in her, but the V-10 is no slouch. Currently in the process of trying to slap a PSD under the hood if I can find a complete donor truck

but thats the whole thing..this is supposed to be a "toy" sort of like a lightning of yesteryear.

do i agree it should have the 6.2? hell yeah! it would be no question i would have to have one. but i'm willing to sacrifice and get the EcoBoost for a awesome, low production number, bad *** truck.

i remember the days that reg cab short beds were all you saw! but now trucks play double duty as the commuter, kid hauler, mommy's "i don't want a minivan" truck. so today a majority of the trucks you see are crew cabs. to be honest i'm still debating a used 2011 loaded crew cab lariat/KR..ect as it would fit my needs better verses buying a brand new tremor. luckily i'll still have two other trucks with 5+ seating cap so its a wash.

Well that is just natural though. Look at how much you make now vs. 10 years ago. I would hope it would be more. 10 years ago I looked at a 40k dollar truck like it was stupid, now 60K is dumb and 40k is affordable. In 2023 a loaded f150 will prob top 80k.

Oh I agree, and 80K for an F150 makes me shudder. In that case maybe in 2023 I will still be driving the ol' maroon '10 SCrew I have now!

If any of you are still interested, the lead designer for the Tremor, Brian Bell, held a live chat on edmunds.com about the Tremor.

He confirmed it will start at $38k. Which is ridiculous considering the competition.

You can get a rcsb tundra with a 5.7l negotiated for ~$32k. The ram express rcsb starts at $26k. A Ram SRT-10 with a viper V-10, rcsb, and MANUAL can be had for 25-35k with low miles.

In short: I'm out.

The trucks you mentioned are not direct competition. This is a regular cab fX2 with the appearance package. 38k would be right in line with that.

You've got to be kidding me, right? The Tremor is not a FX2 with an appearance package. It is a rcsb, available in rwd or 4x4, ecoboost, 4.10 rear with an FX appearance package. It is marketed as a sport truck with 365 hp and 420 lb/ft. So any other truck on the market with rcsb, available rwd or 4x4, and similar power rating is in direct competition. In fact, Ram released the Ram Express Black Edition in direct response to the announcement of the Tremor. That is the definition of competition.

It is clear that the Tremor is not marketed towards you. As someone in the market for a sport truck I can tell you that the other models I mentioned are absolutely in competition with the Tremor. And they are winning. Hell, even the Ram Sport starts at 33k. You cannot tell me that the Tremor and Ram Sport are not in the same class.
